TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 31 -- Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. today announced
the appointment of Irving A. Miller as Vice President, Office of the Web.
Toyota's Office of the Web is a group of top marketing and technology
professionals organized to unify the company's electronic commerce programs.

"Much of the innovation in the automotive industry over the next decade
will take place in the e-commerce arena," said Miller. "I look forward to the
road ahead as Toyota integrates the existing strength and expertise of our
Toyota and Lexus dealer network with an expanding virtual world."

Most recently Miller was vice president of sales for Lexus, the luxury
division of TMS. Miller began his career with Toyota in 1980 as merchandising
manager in the San Francisco Region. Since then, he has held several regional
management positions including field operations manager of the Denver Region,
assistant general manager of the Cincinnati Region and general manager of the
Kansas City Region. Miller also served as market representation manager for
Toyota and Lexus division, corporate manager, advertising-merchandising for
the Toyota Division, and vice president, field operations, Customer Services
Division, for Toyota.

Toyota's Office of the Web is organized into six teams:
Business-to-Customer; Business-to-Business; Policy and Governance;
Innovations; Customer Relationship Management and Web Technology. Miller will
report to J. Davis Illingworth, senior vice president, planning and
development.

E-commerce initiatives launched by Toyota's Office of the Web include the
Toyota and Lexus dealer extranet (known as Dealer Daily) launched in October
of last year and a supplier extranet which links approximately 500 Toyota
Motor Sales suppliers. Still under development is the joint Internet
retailing pilot which will partner Toyota with its network of Toyota Dealer
Associations.

Headquartered in Torrance, CA, Toyota Motor Sales is the marketing, sales,
distribution and advertising arm of Toyota in the United States. TMS sold
1,475,441 cars and trucks in 1999 through 1197 Toyota and 187 Lexus
dealerships in 49 states.
