Restructuring Program Continues At National Car Rental
31 January 2000
Approximately 200 Employees Will Lose Jobs March 30
In a move to further maximize efficiencies, ANC Rental Corporation, the automotive rental division of AutoNation, Inc., today announced that it would eliminate call center operations at its National Car Rental facility in Edina, Minnesota. This action will result in the reassignment of these positions to other company locations. Employees currently holding these jobs will lose their positions effective March 30, 2000.
"Our commitment to consolidate operations in order to maximize efficiencies and reduce operating costs has necessitated this difficult business decision," said Karen Beard, ANC Rental Corporation's President, North America.
All employees will be provided with severance and outplacement services, and some employees will be asked to relocate. The operational areas impacted include general reservations, customer service, roadside assistance, and international services.
Approximately 100 positions are scheduled to remain in Edina.
ANC Rental Corporation, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale Florida, includes Alamo Rent A Car, National Car Rental, and CarTemps, USA. With annual revenue of approximately $3.5 billion, ANC Rental Corporation is scheduled to be spun-off to AutoNation shareholders as a tax-free share dividend and independently traded in the New York Stock Exchange as "ANR" during the first quarter of 2000.
