Delphi Automotive Systems Names Two New Directors in South AmericaSAO PAULO, Brazil, Jan. 27 -- In order to strengthen Delphi's new aftermarket and government relations activities in South America, Delphi Automotive Systems recently announced significant changes in its South American management team. The new assignments are effective immediately. Lucia Veiga Moretti, former sales and marketing manager Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems in South America, was named director, Delphi South America Aftermarket. The position was formerly assigned to Martin Wells who, at the same time, also held the position of director, government relations. Wells has now been named director, government relations, new business and venture development. Delphi is dedicating full-time professionals to both of these positions to facilitate market growth and to increase its commitment to customer service in the South American region. Moretti will report in her new position to Frank Ordonez, general manager of Aftermarket Operations, and to Volker Barth, president of Delphi in South America. Wells continues to report to Volker Barth. "Delphi has been strengthening its aftermarket presence in South America. There are significant opportunities to further diversify our customer base and to serve our aftermarket customers through the life of an automobile," said Volker Barth. "Lucia's and Martin's marketing and government relations experience, excellent creativity and dedication to customer service will help guide our increased aftermarket activity." With wide experience in the autoparts market, especially the aftermarket, Lucia Moretti is post-graduated in Human Resources and Marketing and initiated her career at Delphi's former joint venture with DHB in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, where she worked for 10 years. In August, 1998, Lucia was appointed sales and marketing manager for Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems. In this position she was responsible for the sales of Delphi Freedom and Delphi Freedom Standard batteries, in addition to all engine management system components, to the Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) market and to the aftermarket in South America. Martin Wells was named director, Aftermarket in South America in July 1999. Prior to that position, he was an international marketing manager and global Aftermarket director, having worked in Europe and the United States. Wells began his career as an environmental engineer at General Motors in 1976. He held many positions in that company, including two years as director, government relations until the end of 1995 when he was promoted to regional director for Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems. With wide business and management experience, Martin is a registered professional industrial and chemical engineer graduated from the University of Technology from Santiago, Chile. He is post-graduated in Environmental Sciences from University of Chile and Human Resources Administration and Financing from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil.
