Federal-Mogul Unveils Broad New NHRA Contingency Postings, Plus Special Engine Brands 'Power Bonus'SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 26 -- Three of the most popular engine parts brands and product lines in the automotive industry -- each from Federal-Mogul Corporation -- will offer more than $241,000 in contingency postings during NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series events in 2000. In addition, the three brands -- Champion(R) Spark Plugs, Fel-Pro(R) Gaskets and Sealed Power(R) Engine Bearings -- will sponsor an innovative "Power Bonus" program offering in excess of $195,000 to NHRA Sportsman competitors during the upcoming season. Champion, Fel-Pro and Sealed Power each will post $300 for qualified winners and $100 for runners-up in each of seven Federal-Mogul racing categories during NHRA national events. The same brands will post $50 for qualifying winners and $25 for the runners-up in all eight NHRA Federal-Mogul categories at each of this year's 42 divisional events. "Champion, Fel-Pro and Sealed Power represent the cornerstone of our engine business and are the leading choices of Sportsman and professional drag racers throughout North America," said Federal-Mogul Motorsports Manager Shelley Pepmeier. "Our new contingency package is a powerful statement about the technology behind these products, our commitment to our engine parts brands and, above all, our partnership with Sportsman drivers and teams." The Federal-Mogul Power Bonus adds an exciting new element to the company's longstanding support of Sportsman competitors. To qualify for the Power Bonus, Sportsman competitors must win or finish second in class using Champion Spark Plugs, Fel-Pro Gaskets and Sealed Power Engine Bearings -- while displaying all three approved contingency decals in the appropriate order -- during any NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series event in 2000. Qualifying national-event winners in each NHRA Federal-Mogul category will receive a $500 Federal-Mogul Power Bonus, while qualifying runners-up will receive $200. At NHRA divisional events, each qualifying winner will receive $150, with $100 going to the runners-up who meet the program's requirements. "We hope to pay out every penny of our budgeted contingency postings and bonuses, and it's certainly possible in light of the tremendous loyalty racers have to the Champion, Fel-Pro and Sealed Power brands and product lines," Pepmeier said. "It's a creative, fun and powerful package that will lead to impressive payouts throughout the season."
