ProfitKey Gets Excellent Reviews From UK Manufacturers; The Effect of PC Technology and Internet on the Shop Floor Hot Discussion Items at Users Group Conference
SALEM, N.H.--Jan. 26, 2000--ProfitKey International, a leading software-solution provider for the discrete manufacturing sector, has received positive reviews from manufacturers in the United Kingdom on its new software initiatives, particularly its totally integrated enterprise production system. The product review and feedback came at a UK users group meeting in Leicester, England.
Manufacturers representing a variety of disciplines including aerospace, sheet metal fabrication, high voltage power enclosures for utilities and precision machining, joined ProfitKey executives Joseph Vinhais, vice president of strategic alliances and Tim Conroy, vice president of sales and marketing, for the three-day conference.
The hottest issue discussed at the meeting was how PC networks, deployed throughout the shop floor, can make the most effective use of local area networking, as well as accessing the Internet for supplier information as varied as quotes and shipping schedules.
"Personal computer technology on the shop floor has seen quantum leaps in performance and acceptance in UK factories in the past year," according to Mike Carswell, managing director of Premier Manufacturing Solutions, ProfitKey's UK business partner. "NT servers are beginning to proliferate, and Intranet-based PC's are rapidly becoming the norm."
Carswell said that Supercraft, Byfleet, Surrey England, is a good example of how ProfitKey's Rapid Response Manufacturing (RRM) can affect the bottom line. Supercraft specializes in machining for the aerospace industry
"Since licensing RRM in 1997, we have increased our turnover by approximately 28 percent," says David Horner of Supercraft. "At the same time, the company has expanded staff at only 11 percent, while stock levels have been reduced 20 percent. In addition, on time delivery performance has improved significantly."
Horner and others in the UK were interested in ProfitKey's new RRM One Source Enterprise Production System, which totally integrates MES and ERP to give manufacturers a seamless, integrated package.
"Manufacturers in the UK are focusing on responding to their customers' demands faster - and more comprehensively - than ever before," said Joseph J. DiZazzo, the president and CEO of ProfitKey. "In effect, with OneSource we now provide the manufacturer with easy-to-use software tools that can run the entire business with greater speed, accuracy and bottom-line savings."
