Moody's Confirms Credit Rating for Collins & Aikman - Cites Improved Operating Performance, Interest Coverage and Cash Flow Leverage

    TROY, Mich., Jan. 25 -- Collins & Aikman Corporation
today announced that Moody's Investor Services (Moody's) has
confirmed the Company's corporate credit rating and has taken Collins & Aikman
off its credit review listing.  Collins & Aikman had previously been placed
under credit review by Moody's in June, 1999.   In making the announcement,
Moody's noted, "The confirmation of the ratings reflects the steady
improvement in Collins & Aikman's operating performance during 1999 which has
led to better debt protection.  In addition, the company continues to maintain
its dominant U.S. market shares in its primary product lines."
    Commenting on both the rating confirmation and the Company's removal from
credit review by Moody's, Thomas Evans, Chairman and CEO of Collins & Aikman
stated,  "We are extremely pleased that Moody's has confirmed our corporate
credit ratings and has taken Collins & Aikman off its credit review.  This
action reflects Moody's recognition of the steps that Collins & Aikman is
taking to restructure its global operations and the benefits of our new

recognized our improved interest coverage and cash flow leverage.  Our entire
