Carmax Opens New Toyota Superstore
LAUREL, Md.--CarMax will grand open its first newly constructed new-car superstore - Laurel Toyota - tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in Laurel, Md.This represents the first time CarMax has built a new facility exclusively to sell new cars.
Located at 8801 Freestate Drive off of Route U.S. 1 in Laurel, next to CarMax Laurel, the new location will offer a sales process that is expected to revolutionize new-car buying. The Laurel Toyota store was previously located at 3516 Fort Meade Road in Laurel.
"While used cars remain our core business, the Toyota superstore represents a great opportunity to sell new vehicles consumers love with the sales process they love," said W. Austin Ligon, president of CarMax. "Discussions with Toyota customers in our focus groups overwhelmingly showed that they want the same low, no-haggle prices, huge selection and customer-friendly service that has made CarMax famous."
The new location will employ 100 Associates. The store has full- and part-time openings for a wide range of positions, including sales consultants and service technicians.
To celebrate the grand opening, CarMax will host Super Bowl parties from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29th and Sunday, January 30th. In the spirit of the Super Bowl, consumers will enjoy giant submarine sandwiches and receive pom poms and a grand opening commemorative cup, while experiencing for themselves CarMax's revolutionary consumer offer.
Showroom hours for the Laurel Toyota Superstore are Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.: and Sunday, 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. Service hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
CarMax, a subsidiary of Circuit City Stores, Inc., has been revolutionizing the way consumers think about automobile purchases since opening its first store in Richmond, Va., in 1993. CarMax operates 38 locations, including 20 new-car franchises and 32 used-car superstores.
