Lafontaine and Burns to Lead Delphi Sales, Marketing and Advertising
    TROY, Mich., Jan. 24 -- Delphi Automotive Systems
today announced the appointment of William A. Lafontaine to director of
marketing and customer development.  Also, the company said Joanne T. Burns
replaces Lafontaine as director of marketing.  Mark R. Weber, Delphi executive
vice president of operations, PC&L, HRM and corporate affairs, made the
announcement.
    Lafontaine assumes responsibility for Delphi's sales, marketing, marketing
communications and customer relationship initiatives worldwide.  In addition,
he will lead the Marketing and Planning Task Team.  He will report to Weber.
    Reporting to Lafontaine, Burns will oversee coordination of Delphi's
advertising and brand building efforts globally.  She also will manage the
Delphi Customer Center at the World Headquarters in Troy, Mich.
    "As a public company, it is important to position ourselves appropriately
in the market and build strong customer and shareholder loyalty for our brand.
Bill and Joanne bring to Delphi's marketing strategy a level of experience to
do that," said Weber.
    Since 1996, Lafontaine had been Delphi's director of marketing.  He has
over 18 years of automotive sales and marketing experience, including senior
staff administrator in business planning for General Motors North American
Operations where he assisted in the development of the brand management
structure.
    Lafontaine earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and finance from
Syracuse University.  He also earned a master's degree in management from
Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
    Prior to her promotion, Burns was advertising manager for Delphi and was
responsible for corporate and original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
advertising, literature and Internet communications.  Before joining Delphi,
she held a number of marketing, sales and planning positions at General
Motors, including brand building for the former Geo brand and advertising
manager for the Malibu, Cavalier and Geo brands.
    Burns earned a bachelor's degree in industrial administration from
Kettering University (formerly GMI).  She earned a master's degree in business
administration from Michigan State University.
