Delphi Automotive Systems Announces Key Manufacturing Operations AppointmentsFLINT, Mich., Jan. 20 -- Delphi Automotive Systems announced today the appointment of seven key executive positions in manufacturing operations. These announcements are being made by Guy C. Hachey, president of Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems, and Edward W. Northern, director of worldwide manufacturing for Delphi Energy & Chassis. The moves are: James D. Chestnut, director of manufacturing for Delphi Chassis, has been named manufacturing director for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems' Canadian, Sandusky, Saginaw, Asec Manufacturing and Milwaukee operations. Chestnut, who also assumes responsibility for manufacturing planning, will continue to report to Northern. "Throughout the integration of Delphi Energy and Chassis, Jim has been a key in making the transitions work smoothly," Northern said. "His professionalism and commitment to making each new transaction a smooth process will continue as he moves into this new assignment." Gay R. Terry has been named operations manager for the five plants in Delphi Energy & Chassis' Saginaw operations. She will report to Chestnut. Prior to this appointment, Terry was manager of Delphi Energy's and Delphi Delco Electronics Systems' Milwaukee operations. "Gay's enthusiasm and ability to lead and mentor is a key to her leadership qualities," Northern said, noting that this new assignment is twice the size of her previous assignment. "Her ability to advance lean principles throughout Delphi will help us keep our competitiveness in the marketplace." William P. Elia has been named manufacturing manager for the Delphi Energy & Chassis and Delphi Delco Electronics Milwaukee operations, succeeding Terry. He will report to Chestnut. Prior to this assignment, Elia was plant manager for Delphi Energy's Anderson ignition plant. "Bill's demonstrated leadership skills, commitment to our competitiveness and understanding of lean is what makes him a good leader," Northern said. "I'm confident that Bill will continue with the outstanding work that Gay began at the Milwaukee facility." Randall L. Tweedy, currently plant manager for Delphi Energy's Wichita Falls, Texas, operations, has been named plant manager for the Anderson ignition plant, succeeding Elia. Tweedy will report to Robert L. Johnson, manufacturing director for Delphi Energy & Chassis. "Randy's experience in his last several assignments has provided him with knowledge of virtually every aspect of the operation," Northern said. "His innovative thinking will take the Anderson ignition plant to the next level in advancing lean." Louann M. Moczarski has been named plant manager, Wichita Falls for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems, succeeding Tweedy. She will report to Johnson. Prior to this assignment, Moczarski was superintendent of production at the Wichita Falls plant. "I'm very pleased that Louann was moved into this position. She brings a fresh perspective and a drive to get things done," Northern said. Russell D. Sylte has been named plant manager, New Brunswick operations for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and will report to Ronald W. Bell, manufacturing manager of North American batteries. He succeeds David G. Kronoshek, whose assignment will be announced at a later date. Prior to this assignment, Sylte was plant manager for Delphi Energy's Tlaxcala, Mexico, operations. "In his experience in working with the CA-LE joint venture, Russ has demonstrated his ability to build teams and to work toward achieving a common vision," Northern said. Christopher B. Ketterer has been named plant manager, Olathe operations for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and will report to Bell. He succeeds Jeffrey Weatherall, whose assignment will be announced at a later date. Prior to this assignment, Ketterer was production superintendent, Delphi Chassis Saginaw operations. "Chris is recognized for not only for his innovative thinking, but also to move from ideas to action," Northern said. All the assignments are effective Feb. 1, 2000. Chestnut began his career with the corporation in 1964 as a college graduate-in-training at GM's former Packard Electric Division in Warren, Ohio. Following assignments as a reliability engineer, inspection supervisor and general production supervisor, he was promoted to assistant manufacturing superintendent in 1973. In 1978 Chestnut was promoted to manager of electrical components, Mexican border operations. In 1980, Chestnut became manufacturing director for Packard Electric Division's Portugal operations. Chestnut transferred in 1986 to the former Rochester Products Division in Rochester, N.Y., with responsibility for the valve train business unit. In 1993 he was named manufacturing manager, U.S. operations and then manager of manufacturing operations support. He was named director, global manufacturing and manufacturing engineering for Delphi Chassis in 1998. Chestnut received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from General Motors Institute in 1969. William P. Elia joined General Motors Corp. at AC Spark Plug Division in Flint, Mich., as a production supervisor in 1983. He was promoted to general supervisor, material and production control and transferred to El Paso, Texas, in 1990. Elia returned to Flint in 1995 as general production supervisor and was promoted to production superintendent in 1996. Elia relocated to Delphi Energy's Wichita Falls operation in 1998. He was promoted to plant manager, Anderson operations in 1999. He received his bachelor's degree from Ferris State University in 1982. Christopher B. Ketterer began his career in 1987 as a manufacturing engineer at the former Delco Products Division of General Motors Corp. in Kettering, Ohio. Subsequent manufacturing assignments led to his promotion to production superintendent in 1994. He transferred to Delphi Chassis' Saginaw, Mich., operations as inspection superintendent in 1996 and was named manufacturing superintendent in 1998. Ketterer received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute in 1984 and his master's degree in manufacturing management from GMI in 1993. Louann M. Moczarski joined General Motors Corp. as a production supervisor at the former AC Spark Plug division in 1976. She was promoted to general production supervisor in 1981 and worked as a labor relations supervisor and senior quality/reliability engineer prior to her transfer to Wichita Falls as a staff assistant in 1994. Moczarski was promoted to production superintendent in 1998. She received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Midwestern University in 1995 and a master's degree in manufacturing management from Kettering University in 1999. Russell D. Sylte joined General Motors Corp. as a salaried employee-in- training in 1985 at the former AC Spark Plug division in Flint, Mich. He was promoted to manufacturing engineer in 1987 and senior manufacturing engineer in 1991. Sylte transferred to the Mexican operations in 1989 with one of his assignments being general supervisor of quality. Sylte was promoted to supplier relations manager in 1994 and transferred to Delphi Energy's Juarez, Mexico, operation. In 1997 he transferred to Tlaxcala and was named plant manager in 1999. Sylte was awarded a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and stress analysis from North Dakota State University in 1985 and a master's degree in business administration from Central Michigan University in 1990. Gay R. Terry joined General Motors Corp. as a college graduate-in-training in GM's former Delco Remy Division in Anderson in 1972. She was promoted to production supervisor in 1972. She was promoted to general supervisor, material and production control in 1977 and in 1983 was named assistant superintendent of production. Terry was purchasing manager in Anderson for the Controls Business Unit. Terry transferred to Delco Remy's Detroit office in 1989 and was named assistant staff engineer in 1992. Later that year she was appointed plant personnel director at Delco Remy's New Brunswick operations and was promoted to plant manager in 1993. In 1995, Terry was on an extensive tour as a professional developmental assignment with GM and Delphi. She was promoted to plant manager of Delphi Energy's Milwaukee operation in 1997. Terry received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Hampton University in 1970 and attended the Carnegie Mellon executive development program in 1988. Randall L. Tweedy joined General Motors Corp. in 1971 as a production supervisor at the former Delco Remy division in Anderson, Ind. He was promoted to general production supervisor in 1974 and to assistant superintendent in 1984. In 1997 he was named plant manager of Delphi Energy's Laurel Mississippi operations. He was named plant manager for Delphi Energy's Wichita Falls operations in 1999. Tweedy received his bachelor's degree in business administration and economics from Ball State University in 1970.
