Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Limited Successfully Launches Electronic Fuel Injection Minibus Model
HONG KONG, Jan. 20 -- The main automotive subsidiary of
Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Limited
(the "Company"), Shenyang Jinbei Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
("Shenyang Automotive") successfully launched an electronic fuel injection
mid-priced minibus model (the "Fuel Injection Model") at the beginning of the
year.
Starting from January 1, 2000, in order to cut down on pollution, Beijing,
Tianjin and Yunnan Province put into effect gasoline vehicle emission
standards (the "Beijing Standards") that are significantly stricter than the
prevailing national standards. It is believed that a number of major cities
in China are looking to follow suit within the year. The electronic fuel
injection system in Shenyang Automotive's mid-priced model which was developed
with a major international auto component supplier, successfully passed the
Beijing Standards tests at the China National Automobile Testing Center in
Tianjin in October 1999.
Mr. Yang Rong, Chairman and President of the Company, said, "The launch of
the electronic fuel injection mid-priced model which has so far met immensely
favorable market response, gives Shenyang Automotive's products an added
advantage towards its competitors. The Company believes that the addition of
this product line will give a healthy boost to sales in the coming year."
