New DC/AC Power Inverter is Latest Innovation From Omron Automotive Electronics
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Jan. 20 -- As today's vehicle
manufacturers aim to make cars and light trucks more convenient and
comfortable for consumers, Omron Automotive Electronics announces a new 500
watt DC/AC power inverter for in-vehicle use to help achieve this goal.
Omron will display the power inverter at the SAE 2000 World Congress, March
6-9, in Detroit.
Omron's inverter was developed to power devices such as portable
televisions, personal computers and peripherals and other "infotainment"
systems that consumers now utilize in their vehicles. Numerous North American
vehicles -- minivans, SUVs and some luxury cars -- offer a 115V AC outlet as
standard equipment for these devices. In response to this demand, Omron
currently supplies the power inverter to the Mitsubishi Pajero.
Omron's DC/AC power inverter employs intelligent power management in a
small, lightweight package. It offers several unique features. Contained in
the inverter is a battery-level warning function, which features a warning and
attention buzzer to alert users that the battery is losing power. Omron's
inverter has added protection against short circuits caused by over-current.
When the inverter is not connected to a power line, the output becomes
intermittent to reduce consumption current. It also is designed to minimize
EMI output.
Omron Automotive designs and manufactures a range of advanced electronic
and electromechanical components for manufacturers around the world. As part
of a $5.6 billion corporation with strengths in fuzzy logic, optics, sensors
and the 3C's ... controls, components and computers, Omron Automotive
integrates these technologies into its electronic control components to help
auto makers achieve greater safety, comfort and convenience for today's
drivers. For additional information about Omron's products, visit the Omron
