Briggs & Stratton Declares Dividend

    MILWAUKEE, Jan. 19 --
    Briggs & Stratton Corporation :
    At the regular quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors of Briggs &
Stratton Corporation, held today, a quarterly dividend of thirty cents ($0.30)
per share was declared on the common stock of the Corporation, payable
April 3, 2000 to shareholders of record at the close of business March 1,
2000.
