American Isuzu Shifts Management Responsibilities; Efficiency and Flexibility Remain Priorities Within U.S. OrganizationCERRITOS, Calif., Jan. 18 -- American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) the distributor of Isuzu vehicles and engines in the United States, has announced a series of management re-assignments that seek to boost corporate efficiency and market response flexibility. The Company noted several position changes and promotions of significance. Among these are five key appointments within the AIMI Sport-Utility group. Mark W. Darling: VP Brand Strategy, Darling will now be responsible for future strategic planning and oversees AIMI market representation needs. He formerly served as VP Marketing and is a career veteran of the AIMI organization having served in many regional and headquarters assignments since the company's inception in 1980. Darling received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Ohio State University. Gary B. Tucker: VP SUV Marketing and Product Planning, the former VP SUV Sales will be responsible for a new and expanded function that combines future product planning and present market response needs. Tucker enjoys spending time with his wife, Carol and three children at their Southern California home. He is also an avid motorcyclist. R. Buck Trawick: Has been re-assigned to the position of VP SUV Sales and will continue to be responsible for Asset Management. He has been with Isuzu since 1982, holding several sales and distribution positions. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia and began his automotive career upon graduation. Fred Kumazawa: Now carries the title, VP Information Technologies, Strategy, Finance & Accounting and Risk Management. Kumazawa is a career Isuzu Motors employee and formerly served as AIMI's VP Finance, Accounting and Controller. He is also a 23-year veteran of Itochu Corporation in Japan. A graduate of Kyusyu University in Fukuoka, Japan, Kumazawa holds a degree in Economics. Richard A. Gillmore: Has been promoted to VP Public Relations for AIMI and will oversee all divisional PR and communications needs. He will supervise agency functions with respect to CV, SUV and Powertrain divisions and will serve as liaison to AIMI's sister company Isuzu Motors America, Inc. Gillmore has served in many corporate capacities since he joined Isuzu in 1986 as sales promotion manager. "These and the other promotions and re-assignments are geared to enhance internal efficiency and speed of market response. Each of the named vice presidents and the others affected by this reorganization have demonstrated valuable skills which are important to Isuzu's continuing ability to meet the challenges of the new automotive marketplace," said AIMI VP Human Resources, Shinichi Hirose.
