Southeast Toyota Closes Year On High NoteMIAMI, Jan. 18 -- With total retail sales of 206,821 cars and trucks in 1999, Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc., today reported a new annual sales record. The former record, set in 1998, was surpassed by seven percent. Spurred by the debut of the all-new full-size Tundra pickup, truck sales advanced 19 percent. Car sales increased five percent, led by the Kentucky- built Sienna minivan, up 17 percent, and the North American-built Corolla sedan, up four percent. Also contributing to the surge in sales were two recently debuted models: the restyled Celica and the affordable all-new ECHO. Nationwide, the Toyota Division sold over one million cars and trucks for the sixth consecutive year and Toyota's Camry earned the title of best-selling car in America for the third consecutive year.
