Tracks: Chris Morgan returns to Irwindale Speedway as Director of Competition

18 January 2000

Irwindale, Calif. - - (Monday, January 17, 2000) It was announced today, that
effective this date, Chris Morgan, will return to Irwindale Speedway to become
its new Director of Competition. Morgan replaces former Competition Director
Jeff Schrader, who resigned from that position on January 14.

Morgan, 27, who served Irwindale Speedway's first Race Director, took a six month
leave of absence from the Speedway this past June so that he could complete a
Bachelor of Arts degree at University of California at Santa Barbara.

Morgan's background in the sport is an extensive one. Beginning as the starter
at Ventura Raceway in 1989, and progressing on to fill the position with USAC
(1990-1993), Mesa Marin Speedway in Bakersfield (1994), and Saugus Speedway
(1995). From 1995 through 1998, Morgan functioned as a technical inspector
as well as the chief starter for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Working as an official technical or safety inspector for virtually every NASCAR
touring division at one time or another, Morgan's philosophy about his new high-profile
job at Irwindale Speedway is simply stated, "It's not about making friends, it's
about earning respect."

"I've got some really big shoes to fill at Irwindale," said Morgan. "Working
together with Jeff at Irwindale to bring this brand new track on line was both
a challenge and a privilege. Together we set a high standard for everyone involved,
and he was instrumental in making this Speedway one of the best-run, and fairest
short tracks for racers in the United States. Staying that course is my first
and constant priority. I'm looking forward to everyone's support in this job."

Schrader left the Speedway to pursue other opportunities. "Everyone at Irwindale
wishes Jeff all the best in all his future endeavors," said Robert DeFazio,
track VP and COO.

Irwindale Speedway will open its 36-event sophomore season on Saturday, March
25, 2000.

TICKETS FOR THE 2000 SEASON WILL GO ON SALE FEBRUARY 15
