Collins & Aikman Announces Promotion of Kevin Kirby to Vice President, Information Technology, Automotive Interior Systems Europe    

    TROY, Mich., Jan. 14 -- Collins & Aikman Corporation
today announced the appointment of Kevin Kirby to Vice President,
Information Technology for Automotive Interior Systems Europe, headquartered
in Wiesbaden, Germany.  Kirby will lead the Company's European Information
Technology team in implementing common core business systems throughout the
European operations.  In making the announcement, Michael Weston, President of
Collins & Aikman Automotive Interior Systems Europe stated, "Kirby's depth of
experience in information technology strategy, system development and
international implementation is an invaluable asset.  His contributions will
have an immediate positive impact on Collins & Aikman's European operations
and customers."

    Kirby was previously Vice President of Information Technology for Collins
& Aikman Automotive Plastics, North America.  Prior to joining Collins &
Aikman he held various information technology management positions primarily
in the automotive industry.  His experience includes implementation and
management of information systems in South America, Mexico, the Pacific Rim
and Europe.
    Kirby holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from
Central Michigan University.  He and his wife Sherri have relocated to
Germany.
