Power Efficiency Ships Motor Controllers to Toyota, Hitachi
HACKENSACK, N.J.--Jan. 13, 2000--Power Efficiency Corp. (OTC BB:PREF), developers and marketers of energy-saving "Power Commander" motor controllers, Thursday reported that its first shipments in the new millennium have been dispatched to the Toyota Corp. in Japan and to Hitachi Elevator Co. in Singapore.Nicholas Anderson, president of Power Efficiency (PEC), said the Toyota controllers will be used in the final stages of an extensive testing program involving stamping machines, conveyors, drilling presses and other manufacturing equipment, "all with excellent results," he added.
Hitachi's motor controllers will be used to initiate a similar testing program, Anderson said.
Both sales were made by PEC's Far East distributor, Haneda & Co., Ltd. based in Tokyo, which expects substantial further orders from the giant Toyota organization in the second quarter of this year, according to Anderson.
The Power Commander controller is based on technology licensed exclusively from NASA. It delivers electric energy to alternating current motors only when and in the amounts needed. It has demonstrated savings up to 40 percent in a variety of applications, Anderson said.
In addition, the device also reduces motor wear, extends service life and provides a "soft start" for motors, all of which boost efficiency.
"With two billion such motors operating in the U.S. alone, our controller's potential for worldwide energy savings appears to be truly significant," Anderson concluded.
