12 January 2000
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is pleased to announce that Paul Slavik has joined the Motorcycle and ATV Press Department as OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) Media Coordinator. As OHV Media Coordinator, Slavik will be responsible for Honda's ATV and recreational off-road motorcycle media relations. A Honda associate since 1976, Slavik comes to Honda's Press group from the Rider Education Department, where he was the OHV Trails Coordinator for 10 years. In that role, Slavik was responsible for a number of important Honda initiatives. He helped launch the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) and continues in the role of advisor to that organization. Slavik serves a key role in Honda's partnership with the National 4H Council and their environmental stewardship program. He is on the steering committee for the California Off-Road PALs Program (CALPAL), a unique youth-at-risk program among California State Parks, the California Police Athletic League and American Honda. Slavik is very active in the San Bernardino National Forest Association and was recently voted Co-Chair of the California Roundtable on Recreation, Parks and Tourism. Slavik brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the off-highway community to his new job. His duties will expand to include media relations with ATV and off-road motorcycle publications, the outdoor recreation press, and agricultural and industrial media. Slavik will also take an active role in new model introductions and the promotion of responsible OHV recreation. Born in Glendale, California, married since 1965, and the father of five children (and proud grandfather of five), Slavik rides ATVs and motorcycles for work and play. He has ridden all over the world, including Hawaii, Mexico and Europe. He is also an avid surfer and can be found early in the morning at the Huntington Beach Pier whenever the surf is up and he is in town. Paul Slavik can be reached at 310.783.3786, e-mail: paul_slavik@ahm.honda.com. Please join us in welcoming Paul to the Honda Motorcycle and ATV Press Department. Pete terHorst Press Manager
