Selas Finalizes Acquisition of Ermat, SA, French Furnace Maker
DRESHER, Pa., Jan. 12 -- Selas Corporation of America
(Amex: SLS) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of French
furnace manufacturer, Ermat, SA. Selas purchased 100% of Ermat, which is
located near Lyon, France, for 11.5 million French Francs, $1.8 million U.S.
Ermat produces furnaces for heat treating both ferrous and non-ferrous
metals and will report through Selas' French subsidiary, Selas SA, according
to the company.
"We are very pleased to have Ermat as part of the Selas family because it
will increase our market share for smaller furnaces that have the potential to
sell in greater volume," Stephen F. Ryan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Selas, said. "We are confident that Ermat will mirror the success of CFR,
which we acquired in 1998 and which markets engineered batch and continuous
furnaces also for heat treating both ferrous and non-ferrous metals."
Selas is a diversified firm with international operations and sales that
engages in the design, development, engineering and manufacturing of a range
of products including precision medical and electronic products, heat
technology equipment and systems, and cable winch products.
