Toyota Selects Reynolds and Reynolds as Tier One Supplier; Reynolds will Link Retail Systems to Car Company's Factory Communications System

DAYTON, Ohio--Jan. 12, 2000--Toyota Motor Sales, USA Inc. (TMS) today selected The Reynolds and Reynolds Company as a Tier One supplier for Lexus Dealer Management Systems and Toyota's Dealer Daily(TM) interfaces for Toyota and Lexus factory communications systems. Dealer Daily will be one of the most comprehensive suites of factory-to-retailer interfaces currently available in the auto industry.
As part of the agreement, Reynolds will develop interfaces to link its ERA2 information management system to the Dealer Daily Web-based business gateway. These interfaces will allow for information integration between Toyota's manufacturing facilities and retailers with ERA2 systems. All Toyota retailers eventually will use Dealer Daily for factory communications, Toyota's replacement for its former system.
"We welcome this opportunity to join forces with Toyota. Reynolds is supporting Toyota's new business gateway with its strong capabilities in information management solutions, e-business and networking to deliver a host of leading edge solutions to the Toyota market," said Pete Granson, vice president of Reynolds' automotive franchise solutions.
Reynolds' ERA2 is the number one ranked information management system in retailer satisfaction, according to Matrixx Marketing, an international research company. An additional independent study has shown that ERA2 delivers significantly stronger financial results compared to other widely available systems - over $200,000 in savings to the bottom line.
"Toyota selected Reynolds for its strong presence in the Toyota market and its obvious focus on Toyota and its retailers. We look forward to a long successful relationship as we enter this new era of retailing and providing technology solutions unmatched in our industry," said Ken Goltara, vice president, Toyota Motor Sales, USA.
"Reynolds has a focused team of professionals from every aspect of our company working to serve Toyota and its dealers, and delivering on Toyota's strong vision for automotive retailing," said Gary Coveyou, vice president of Toyota/Lexus segment, Reynolds' Automotive Group. "We're very proud to serve approximately 50 percent of the Toyota dealers in North America today, and look forward to expanding our already strong relationship with TMS."
Headquartered in Torrance, Calif., Toyota Motor Sales is the marketing, sales, distribution and advertising arm of Toyota in the United States. TMS will sell more than 1.4 million cars and trucks in 1999 through 1,195 Toyota and 187 Lexus dealerships in 49 states.
Reynolds and Reynolds, headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, is a leading provider of integrated information management systems and related value-added services to automotive and general business markets. The company reported revenues of $1.56 billion for the 12 months ended Sept. 30, 1999.
