AAA Signs Exclusive Agreement With Hertz; Free Rental Car Benefits for Policyholders in Need

    SAN FRANCISCO--Jan. 11, 2000--Today, the California State Automobile Association Inter-Insurance Bureau (CSAA), announced that it will offer a temporary replacement car, free of charge, to its Northern California and Nevada auto policyholders who need transportation as a result of a theft or collision involving their vehicle. Operating from an extensive network of convenient locations, Hertz will be the exclusive provider of vehicles for this service to AAA members.
    Under the agreement with The Hertz Corporation , through its Hertz Local Edition unit, Northern California and Nevada AAA policyholders are eligible to receive a Ford Contour or similar vehicle at no additional expense to the policyholder. This benefit is exclusive to AAA members who carry comprehensive and collision coverages on their automobile insurance policy.

    Under this new agreement, AAA policyholders are entitled to a free rental car while their insured vehicle is being repaired, up to 30 days, as long as physical damage coverages are included under the insured's policy. If there is only liability coverage, the policyholders are entitled to rental reimbursement of $15 per day, for up to 10 days.

The California State Automobile Association serves nearly 4 million members in Northern California, Nevada and Utah, and is the second largest underwriter of auto insurance policies in Northern California.
