Isuzu Reports Record Setting Commercial Vehicle Retail Sales for 1999
    CERRITOS, Calif., Jan. 11 -- American Isuzu Motors Inc.
reports its best commercial vehicle annual retail sales year in the company's
history.  With the NPR Diesel, NPR Gas, NQR, and FTR each setting new annual
sales records, Isuzu truck sales topped 20,000 units.  Isuzu dealer network
sales were up an impressive 31% over the record sales figures of the 1998
model year.  The Isuzu network set record retail sales numbers in nine of the
twelve months of the year (Feb. Mar. Apr. May. Jun. Sep. Oct. Nov. Dec.)
    In the low cab forward market, Class 2C through Class 4, Isuzu commercial
trucks continue to excel with a 60% market share.  In addition, Isuzu Class
5-7 low cab forward trucks posted a one-year increase of 8 points in market
share rising from 24% to 32%.  Looking at the entire low cab forward market
Class 2C-7, Isuzu now commands a 50% market share.
    Leading the way in this record setting year were the core vehicles of the
Isuzu commercial vehicle lineup. Isuzu's number one seller, the NPR Diesel,
set a sales record of 11,463 while the NPR Gas bettered last year's record
sales of 2,778 by an additional 1,000 plus units with 3,819 trucks sold. In
its first full year of sales the Class-5 NQR sold 2,100 trucks coming up just
short of doubling the previous years figure of 1,085 units sold.  In the
F-Series line, the FTR continued to gain strength selling 1,462 trucks.
