Isuzu SUV Sales Up 12% in 1999; Best Rodeo Sales Year Ever - Best Trooper Since '95CERRITOS, Calif., Jan. 11 -- American Isuzu Motors Inc.'s (AIMI) SUV division, today reported a surge in December Trooper sales leading the way for an impressive year ending increase for this model of 14 percent, representing total sales of 20,755 units. Trooper December sales almost doubled with 3,774 units sold, compared to 1,927 units sold in December '98 -- a record for the model and a testament to the enduring quality and appeal of this classic SUV. The Rodeo sustained its steady retail sales performance in December to close with a 10 percent increase for the year. There were 5,612 new Rodeo owners in December and a total of 64,744 SUV buyers chose Rodeo in 1999 -- an all-time Rodeo sales record. Amigo, AIMI's sporty two-door compact SUV, wrapped up the year with a 17 percent rise in sales over 1998, acknowledging the tough little 205 horsepower truck's adventurous appeal. Total sales for all AIMI SUV -- VehiCROSS, Trooper, Rodeo, Amigo, Hombre, and Oasis came to 103,937 units.
