Detroit Diesel Named SAE's Company of the YearDETROIT, Jan. 11 -- During the North American International Auto Show, Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) announced the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has named DDC Powerplant and Off Highway Company of the Year. SAE named DDC Company of the Year in 1999 based on the following five categories: * New Products / Services * Manufacturing Processes * Quality * Application of Technologies * Customer Service In order to earn the award, DDC had to demonstrate it was the company in 1999 who made the most significant advances in the five categories. Detroit Diesel's Series 4000 engine was the product featured in the award. The Series 4000 engine is designed for large off highway vehicles and features electronic controls and common rail fuel injection, features also found on DDC's new on-highway automotive diesel line up.
