Exide Corporation Awarded Battery Contract for All U.S. Military Tactical And Combat Vehicles
    READING, Pa., Jan. 11 -- Exide Corporation , a
global leader in the business of stored electrical energy, today announced it
has been awarded a contract to supply more than 150,000 per year military
batteries for wheeled and tracked vehicles, serving 218 military bases
throughout the United States.
    The contract, awarded by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency's Defense
Supply Center, is for an initial two years, with three option years.  The
estimated gross value of the contract is approximately $12 million per year.
    Alan C. Johnson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Exide, said, "We
