Delco Remy Announces Personnel ChangeANDERSON, Ind., Jan. 10 -- Delco Remy International, Inc. Board of Directors has announced today that David L. Harbert, Executive Vice President & CFO will resign February 1 to accept a financial position in another industry. An announcement of that appointment is expected in a few days. Mr. Harbert joined Delco Remy International on October 17, 1994, shortly after the company was formed from assets acquired from General Motors. Since that time the company has nearly doubled in size, completed 17 acquisitions and joint ventures, and completed an initial public offering. "Dave has been a major contributor to our growth and development," said Thomas J. Snyder, President & Chief Executive Officer. "We have worked side by side for the last five years and I will miss that. Dave has built an excellent global financial team and that leaves us well positioned for the future." David L. Harbert was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Delco Remy International, Inc., headquartered in Anderson, Indiana on October 17, 1994. He joined the privately held corporation in a key strategic role to help guide the company through the transition from a General Motors facility into the new company, Delco Remy America, Inc., a subsidiary of Delco Remy International, Inc. Dave Harbert has an extensive background in finance and accounting and has been a Chief Financial Officer of two public corporations. He began his career at GenCorp in 1974 in a number of operating financial positions and eventually became Vice President and Corporate Controller. In 1987, he moved to Tenneco Automotive where he accepted the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He remained there until 1990 when he joined System Software also as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Delco Remy America, Inc., he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Applied Power. Dave served four years in the United States Air Force and received bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of Akron. He is also a certified public accountant in the state of Ohio. He now serves on a number of various committees in the Anderson area. He is the President of the Board of Trustees for the Anderson Fine Arts Foundation, Inc., and is also a member of the Finance and Investment Committee for the Madison County Community Foundation, Inc. Delco Remy International is a world leader in the production of starting motors for automotive, light-duty truck, marine, heavy-duty vehicles, agricultural, construction and power generation applications in the U.S. Additionally, the company designs, manufactures, remanufactures and distributes electrical, fuel systems, transmissions, engines, traction control systems, powertrain/drivetrain and related components.
