Dealer Magazine Zeroes in on Titan's Overseas Expansion
PHOENIX, Jan. 10 -- The January 2000 issue of Motorcycle
Product News Magazine features a two-page spread on expansion into the
European market by Titan Motorcycle Co. of America .
In an article entitled "Over-Sea Cruise," author Bob Whitby discusses the
growing European demand for American "heavyweight cruisers," of which Titan is
a premier manufacturer. With the recent opening of the company's 14,000
square-foot office and warehouse in Germany, and nine European dealers
currently in place and several more expected to join the ranks during the next
12 months, Titan is primed to capitalize on the overseas appetite for heavy
metal and high performance.
Titan's overseas headquarters is the culmination of three years of hard
work, but according to Frank Keery, Titan's chief executive officer, it's only
the beginning. The German location, which will enable overseas dealers to
obtain motorcycles and parts in as little as two days, will be a sort of
"command central" for Titan Europe. The company's plans for the next
24 months are ambitious, but according to Keery quite doable. He expects to
eventually sell 15-20 percent of total production overseas. In addition to
Europe, Titan sells bikes in South Africa, Asia and Australia with future
plans to enter the South American market.
"Exports have been a company priority since the start, and thanks to
others who have gone before us, the burden of consumer education and creating
demand doesn't fall entirely upon us," says Keery. "In fact, demand is strong
and getting stronger and more sophisticated, with consumers now focusing on
custom styling and high performance, all of which bodes well for Titan," he
says.
Founded in 1994, Titan Motorcycle Co. of America is a premier designer,
manufacturer and distributor of high-end, American-made, V-twin engine
motorcycles marketed under various Titan trademarks. Titan's unique,
hand-built configurations, including the Gecko(TM), Roadrunner(TM),
Sidewinder(TM), and Phoenix(TM) represent the finest available in
custom-designed, volume-produced, performance motorcycles. Manufactured at
the Company's corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility, and available
with a variety of customized options and designs, Titan large displacement
motorcycles are sold through a network of over 80 domestic and international
dealers.
