BMW 7 Series Named First Ever 'Prestige Luxury Car' to Win in the Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards
DETROIT, Jan. 10 -- The Polk Company named the BMW 7 Series
the winner in the fourth annual Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards in the
"Prestige Luxury Car" category. This is the first year for this category
making the 7 Series the inaugural winner. During the 1999 model year fully
26.9% of the people who leased or purchased a 7 Series were existing owners
who were so pleased with their car that they decided to get another one. That
is 8.5% higher than the average in the "Prestige Luxury Car" category and
nearly 3.5% more than the nearest competitor.
The Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards are based on statistics that track
consumer purchase behavior during the 1999 model year. To determine the
winners, Polk examines registration data and lease transactions for the entire
United States.
"We know from talking to our owners and from other studies that people who
drive the 7 Series absolutely love the car," said Tom Purves, Chairman and CEO
of BMW (US) Holding Corp., "We are particularly pleased with this award from
Polk. There is no better indicator of a customer's satisfaction with their
automobile than their willingness to lease or purchase another one."
This is the second recent award received by the 7 Series acknowledging the
pleasure that owners derive from their cars. It was named the "most appealing
premium luxury car" in the most recent J.D. Power and Associates APEAL study
which measures what excites and delights owners about their car.
