Budget Group Selects Cohen as New Chief Financial Officer
    LISLE, Ill., Jan. 10 -- Budget Group, Inc. , which
owns Budget Rent a Car Corporation and Ryder TRS, today announced the
appointment of Neal S. Cohen, 39, as its executive vice president and chief
financial officer.  Cohen spent nine years with Northwest Airlines, most
recently as senior vice president and treasurer, as well as seven years at
General Motors in a number of financial management positions.  He will be
responsible for managing Budget Group's global financial activities and
controls, capital structure, shared financial services and information
technology, as well as overseeing acquisitions and divestitures.  Cohen will
replace Mike Clauer, whose resignation will become effective February 28.
    "We appreciate the efforts and contributions Mike has made and wish him
well in his future endeavors," said Sandy Miller, Budget Group Chairman and
CEO.  Commenting on Cohen's appointment to CFO, Miller noted, "We look forward
to having Neal join our team.  The financial and treasury experience he brings
from the automotive and travel industries will be a valuable asset to Budget
Group and will help us accelerate improved bottom-line profitability."
    Cohen's career began in 1984 with General Motors, at its New York
treasurer's office where he held positions in international finance, banking,
financial analysis and planning.  In 1991, he joined Northwest Airlines, where
his responsibilities included capital markets and banking, budgeting, tax and
risk management, business development and market planning.  Cohen successfully
developed growth and margin improvement strategies, including innovative
strategic alliances.  During his tenure at Northwest Airlines, he also held
the position of controller as well as several key positions in marketing.
    Cohen earned an MBA degree in Finance/Accounting and a BS degree in
Politics, Economics, Rhetoric and Law from The University of Chicago.
