Modine Forms North American Engine Products Group

RACINE, Wis.--Jan. 6, 2000--Modine Manufacturing Company has created an Engine Products Group for North America, announced Ernest T. Thomas, Group Vice President, Highway Products.
"This new business group will be led by Thomas F. Adams and will focus on the design and development of premier components, systems, and services in support of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) engine-manufacturers' needs," said Thomas. "Our heat-transfer components and modules also serve a wide variety of thermal-management needs for the OEM automotive, truck, off-highway, marine, and various industrial markets."
Adams said, "Modine now offers a variety of engine, oil, fuel, and charge-air coolers for many types of OEMs. The formation of this group lets us focus on the special needs of engine manufacturers. Our mission will be to differentiate ourselves by developing and maintaining strong customer relationships that utilize our technical capability. Today's market conditions demand that engine thermal management be optimized to produce the best engine fuel economy, performance characteristics, and emissions signature. Components and systems will be designed to do this while offering optimal size, weight, and durability."
Thomas added, "In an announcement on Dec. 20, 1999, affecting the OEM engine market, Modine revealed that it had been selected as a key development partner by certain worldwide customers to provide advanced engine-exhaust-cooling technology. Partners in this new product category include truck diesel-engine and major passenger-car manufacturers in both Europe and North America. The products, called exhaust-gas-recirculation coolers, will help OEMs meet increasingly stringent tailpipe emission regulations.
"The formation of the Engine Products Group and the development of leading-edge products demonstrate that Modine is anticipating the future needs of a rapidly changing marketplace," Thomas continued. "Our strong technical-resource base enables Modine to offer unique services and state-of-the-art products to our customers."
Modine is a world leader at solving heating and cooling problems in vehicles, buildings, and off-highway and industrial equipment. Modine has annualized sales of more than $1 billion and has 9,000 employees worldwide.
