Code-Alarm to Step Up Dealer Support in 2000
                    Announces new initiatives, dealer trip

    LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 -- Code-Alarm, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: CODL) today announced a variety of new initiatives to
better support its national base of aftermarket dealers in 2000, including a
dealer council, product technology, marketing and a trip south of the border.
The company made the announcements today at the Winter Consumer
Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where it is exhibiting at the Sands Convention
Center - Booth #18445.
The Madison Heights, Mich.-based manufacturer of vehicle security, remote
keyless-entry and car-start products announced it assembled its first dealer
council in December. The company invited 12 of its retailers and expediters
to Code-Alarm's corporate headquarters to listen and identify their needs in
the areas of customer service, products, technical and marketing support.
"Our first dealer council was an eye-opener, in a very positive way," said
Michael Schroeder, vice president of sales and marketing for Code-Alarm. "Our
dealers told us that they thought our product quality was the best it has ever
been, and that our work with the world's automakers was a positive selling
point for them. At the same time, they helped us identify areas where we need
more focus, including customer service, marketing and product support. We
intend to do so by leveraging technology, focusing on new marketing
opportunities and creating training programs for our people."
Schroeder said Code-Alarm would be rolling out a first phase of an updated
website (http://www.code-alarm.com ) in the month of January, as a way to provide
additional marketing information and to build consumer awareness of the
products. The company also instituted a CodeFax program in fall 1999. The
program, which is a way to update dealers regularly on promotions, new
products and other pertinent technical and company news, has received good
reviews from customers. Code-Alarm also said it would be rolling out a new
advertising theme in 2000 with the assistance of a Detroit area advertising
agency.
The new theme -- "Technology that talks to cars and trucks" -- will debut
in 2000 in order to reflect Code-Alarm's position as a technology leader that
writes the language and creates the security and remote keyless-entry products
that talk to cars and trucks. The theme also reflects Code-Alarm's commitment
to developing exciting new products that answer the growing consumer demand
for innovative vehicle security, content protection and convenience features.
Code-Alarm also used the Consumer Electronics Show to announce that it
will host a dealer trip to Mexico in the spring of 2000. Code-Alarm will
gather dealers at the Moon Palace resort in Cancun to review the Company's
progress relative to dealer support initiatives and talk about new products,
services and support issues facing the 12-volt industry in the new millennium.
