Amerigon Announces Commercial Shipments Of Proprietary Climate Control Vehicle Seat System
IRWINDALE, Calif., Jan. 6 -- Amerigon Incorporated
today announced that it has commenced commercial shipments of
its proprietary Climate Control Seat(TM) (CCS(TM)) system for vehicle driver
and front passenger seats. The shipments were made to Johnson Controls, Inc.
, a global market leader in automotive systems and the first
automotive interior supplier to produce such seat systems for OEMs. Lincoln
Mercury of Ford Motor Company , a valued Johnson Controls, Inc
customer, has publicly announced it has incorporated the new technology as an
option in its 2000 model year Navigator SUV. The CCS system can be
individually controlled to provide desired degrees of warmth or cooling, as
well as dehumidification.
Amerigon President and CEO Richard A. Weisbart commented, "These shipments
mark a major corporate milestone after six years of research, planning and
field testing. We believe that the commercial acceptance of CCS as a
value-added option by two prestigious automotive names -- Johnson Controls and
Ford Motor Company -- demonstrates a confidence that our unique technology
works well and that it has significant market appeal.
"We look forward to a mutually beneficial long-term relationship with
Johnson Controls," Weisbart continued, "that will enable us to establish and
maintain a leadership position in seating comfort features for the automotive
industry."
