United Way Gets Nearly $65,000 From Chrysler Jeep Superstores of Southeastern Michigan
Second Annual 'Gift Exchange' Event Exceeds Expectations

DETROIT, Jan. 6 -- The Chrysler Jeep Superstores of
Southeastern Michigan raised nearly $65,000 for United Way during their second
annual end-of-the-year "Gift Exchange" sales event.
The special holiday Gift Exchange new vehicle sales event by the Chrysler
Jeep Superstores Association of Southeastern Michigan ran from December 27,
1999 through January 3, 2000. The Chrysler Jeep Superstores donated $50 to
the United Way for each new vehicle that was sold or leased during the event.
"We're pleased that we exceeded our target for the Gift Exchange," said
Bill Golling, of Golling Chrysler Jeep in Bloomfield Hills and president of
the Chrysler Jeep Superstores Associations. "We surpassed our goal of 1,000
and sold or leased almost 1,300 new vehicles. Our customers benefited from
special purchase and lease programs, and we raised more money than we expected
for our local United Way. We're glad we had the opportunity to help the
United Way at this time of year, when they are doing so much in the
community."
The United Way is a vast network of volunteers and community service
agencies. The United Way supports more than 130 health and human service
agencies, 110 special summer programs and 3,000 camperships not only in the
tri-county area, but also in the nine county southeast Michigan region.
Agencies supported by the United Way include the American Red Cross, Boys &
Girls Clubs of Southeast Michigan, Goodwill Industries and YMCA/YWCA.
"We commend the Chrysler Jeep Superstores of southeast Michigan for
creating this new method of giving that will assist the United Way in helping
people in need," said Geneva J. Williams, Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer of the United Way. "One in three people in metropolitan
Detroit are helped throughout the year by United Way efforts. The Chrysler
Jeep Superstores are a model for all businesses who care about their
community."
The proceeds from the Chrysler Jeep Superstore Gift Exchange will be
presented to the local United Way at a special event. All Chrysler Jeep
Superstores in southeast Michigan participated in the Gift Exchange.
The Chrysler Jeep Superstores Associations support sales activities of the
independently owned and operated Chrysler Jeep Superstores in southeast
Michigan.
