Jaguar Announces Record 1999 Sales
MAHWAH, N.J., Jan. 5 -- Jaguar North America today announced
record sales in the United States for any single-month and for full-year 1999.
In the U.S., Jaguar sales totaled 35,039 cars, an increase of nearly 56
percent compared with 1998. This total represents a new single-year sales
record in the U.S. The prior record was established in 1986, with 24,464
vehicles.
"Jaguar passed significant milestones in 1999," said Mike Dale, president
of Jaguar North America. "Our achievements in quality and customer
satisfaction, the successful launches of the S-TYPE and XKR, and record sales
illustrate that we are meeting consumers' expectations for delivering world
class, reliable and durable products while offering a uniquely personal
ownership experience."
Jaguar also posted its best sales month ever in its U.S. history with
sales totaling 4,946 cars in December. December sales of the S-TYPE were at
an all-time high since its launch in April 1999, with sales of 2,878 cars.
Jaguar's 2000 model year product lineup, consisting of three series, will
be on display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next
week and includes: the XJ Series sedans, including the XJ8, XJ8 L (available
in the U.S. only), XJR, Vanden Plas, Vanden Plas Supercharged (not available
in Mexico); the S-TYPE sport sedan available with either a 3.0-liter V6 or a
4.0-liter V8 engine; and the XK Series, which includes the new supercharged
XKR in both coupe and convertible and the XK8 also available in both body
styles.
