Hyundai Wraps Up Record Sales Year; December Sales Up 70% Over Last Year

    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 4 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 13,338 vehicles for the month of December, up
70 percent from one year ago.  Total 1999 sales were 164,190, an 82 percent
increase over last year.
    "With sales of 6,342 units, the Elantra continues to be the volume leader
with sales up 83 percent over the same month last year," said Robert Cosmai,
vice-president of sales for Hyundai Motor America.  "Our flagship Sonata
continues to show large sales increases, with a sales increase of 106 percent
over last year," Cosmai added.
    "One factor bringing customers into Hyundai showrooms is The Hyundai
Advantage, America's Best Warranty," Cosmai said.  "Hyundai buyers are covered
by a 10-year/100,000 powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000 mile
bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty and
5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection," he said.
