TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 4 -- Total American Honda 1999 sales
of 1,076,893 were up 6.7 percent from 1998, setting a new all-time record and
shattering numerous other marks in the process, according to sales figures
released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
"Last year was the ultimate 'E' ticket ride, the roller coaster just kept
going up, up, up," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales for
American Honda. "It may be tough for the industry to top 1999, but for right
now we're just going to enjoy it."
Honda Division sales for 1999 set a new record of 958,887, up 6.6 percent
from 1998. Honda Division set sales records in every month of the year.
