Volvo Topples Three Sales Records

    ROCKLEIGH, N.J. -- Volvo Cars of North America, Inc. has posted 1999 
year-to-date sales of 125,218 units, breaking the previous record of 120,781 
set in 1986.

    VCNA has also achieved a sales record in the United States at 116,692,
passing the 1986 figure, 113,267.

    Additionally, VCNA produced a monthly sales record of 13,221 in December
1999, topping the previous high of 13,184 which was achieved in January 1987.

    "The launch of the S40 and V40, as well as the ongoing success of the S80,
play major roles in these achievements," according to Hans-Olov Olsson, VCNA
President and CEO.  "The entire VCNA organization and our retailer partners
deserve significant credit for supporting our exciting new products to achieve
this fantastic goal."
