Audi Finishes 1999 With Best Sales Results in 14 Years And Best December Ever
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Audi of America flourished in 1999 with its fifth
straight year of double digit growth selling a total of 65,959 cars, up 38.8 percent
over last year's total of 47,517. This marks the company's best year-end sales
results since 1985.

Each model across the line posted increases for the year. The A6, adding
new 2.7 T bi-turbo and 4.2 liter engines for model year 2000, showed the
largest growth in 1999, closing the year with 26,131 units sold, up
44.8 percent. Both the A4 and the all-aluminum A8 ended the year favorably
with sales totaling 32,137, up 20.7 percent and 2,481, up 14.2 percent,
respectively. Audi's hot selling newcomer, the TT, sold 5,139 coupes since
its debut in May.

"We rode a wave of success in 1999 and we're closing in on our all-time
records set in 1985," said Len Hunt, vice president, Audi of America. "As we
had hoped, the center of gravity of our line is shifting towards our
performance-oriented A6. With a strong economy, 2000 promises to be an
exciting year with more sales increases."

For December, Audi sold 6,479 vehicles in the U.S., a 3.1 percent increase
over the same month last year. TT sales of 656 helped to make the month the
best December ever. A6 sales were 2,540, a slight increase over last year.
Both A4 sales of 3,024 and A8 sales of 259 were slightly off for the month.
