Veramark Receives VeraBill Order For Auto Application in Germany
PITTSFORD, N.Y.-- Dec. 22, 1999--Veramark Technologies, Inc. today announced receipt of an order from Alcatel SEL AG for a VeraBill billing and customer care system. The end user of the VeraBill system, gedes telematics, based in Germany, supplies advanced, interactive automobile sensing systems utilizing GSM wireless telephone, Global Position System, and airbag technologies. This particular VeraBill system will be deployed in Germany. The VeraBill system is typically used by wireline and wireless telephone companies. Gedes telematics found the robust features of VeraBill suitable for a very different application. Gedes telematics supplies a leading German automobile manufacturer with a smart telematics box consisting of a computer, GPS receiver, a gyroscope and a message display. Using that technology, the system continuously determines the vehicle's precise position and direction. Short digital messages can periodically be sent by wireless telephone to the car dashboard display advising of traffic congestion or accidents ahead. The driver (or in the event of an accident, the airbag computer) can also send messages back to the control center requesting assistance. The VeraBill system will be used to track and bill for the GSM messages sent over the system.
David G. Mazzella, Veramark President and CEO, commented that, "This is a very creative application of VeraBill and points out the versatility of our product. As cellular phones and computers become common auto accessories there will be many other opportunities to apply VeraBill for usage based billing of data messages. We are also exploring opportunities to utilize VeraBill in other industries that need to measure and bill for the transmission of data."
VeraBill is a comprehensive billing and customer care system for wireline, wireless and other network service providers.
Veramark Technologies, Inc. is engaged in the design, production and servicing of telecommunications management and billing systems for users and providers of telecommunications services in the global market.
