Internet Operations Center Inc. Advances Into Millennium With New Strategic Management Team

Internet Operations Center Inc., a leading Internet application services provider focused on the automotive industry, today announced the promotion of Bill Walles to president, replacing Michael Marquardt who has resigned. Marquardt, who joined IOC in 1996 will continue with the company through December. He will leave to head a New York-based health related Internet firm.
Along with Walles, the company's strategic management team includes Jay Harrison, chief technology officer; David Marczak, CPA, chief financial and operations officer; Yoom Nguyen, director of network operations; and Barbara Palazzolo, APR, vice president of strategic business development.
"This is a strong team of leaders, each with a dynamic professional background and proven track record that will contribute greatly to IOC's plans for continued growth and development. The team strengthens IOC's focus on providing strategic solutions for the automotive industry, including electronic data interchange, e-commerce, portal, Web mail and supply chain management," said Bill Walles, president. "Together, we are ensuring the company's vision for the future and establishing a foundation for success that will take IOC well into the next century."
Walles, who joined IOC in August 1998 will continue to be responsible for all aspects of automotive business application services and will spearhead the company's strategic direction and growth. He has more than 15 years experience in technology, engineering management and business analyst roles. He spent nine years at Ford Motor Company in various management positions including, product design engineer, technical strategic planning analyst, and as an advanced manufacturing project manager and business analyst, where he led initiatives to Web-enable business processes. Walles also worked at General Motors and served in the Nuclear Propulsion Program of the United States Navy. He holds a master's of science degree in engineering management from Wayne State University in Detroit, and a bachelor's of science in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University. Walles and his wife live in Birmingham, Mich.
As chief technology officer, Harrison will draw on 13 years experience in technical and management roles with leading information technology companies. Prior to joining IOC this month, Harrison served as senior vice president of research and development at Deneb Robotics, a Troy, Mich., company which he co-founded and was the key architect for its new product design. He also served as MIS director for Combine International, a Michigan manufacturing firm and held technical positions at Delta Research Computer Consulting and Micronet. Harrison is a board member at the Detroit Charter School for Industrial Arts, and a patent holder for a computer graphics algorithm. He resides in Commerce Township, Mich.
Marczak, who joined IOC in September 1998, is responsible for operations and financials reporting. Previously, he served for 13 years as chief financial officer and director at Secom General Corporation , in Novi, Mich., where he directed all accounting, financial analysis and played a key role in over 10 acquisitions and divestitures. Earlier, Marczak was an auditor for Touche Ross & Co., CPA's. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and is a certified public accountant. Marczak lives in Southfield, Mich.
Leading IOC's network operations and engineering department is Nguyen. He has over 12 years experience in the technical field focusing on network, internetworking, systems and operations and has been involved in different levels of management. Prior to joining IOC in April 1999, Nguyen worked at TACOM as a senior LAN/WAN engineer and as a senior network/system engineer at Campbell-Ewald Advertising/C-E Communications in Warren, Mich. He also served as a system administrator and programmer at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich., where he also earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. Nguyen and his wife live in St. Clair Shores, Mich.
Directing IOC's strategic business development, including the marketing, communications, sales promotion and investor communications functions, is Palazzolo, who brings 15 years of experience to the company. Palazzolo, who joined IOC in July 1999, was previously managing director of marketing communications at Garg Data Industries, a Web application development and services provider in Newport Beach, Calif. Prior to that, Palazzolo served as vice president of creative and strategic business development for DMB&B Public Relations, the Detroit office of Manning Selvage & Lee (the world's eighth-largest public relations firm); partner at Brogan & Partners Advertising/Public Relations in Detroit; and as director of marketing promotions and product publicity for Kmart Corporation. Palazzolo holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., and has been Accredited in Public Relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She lives with her husband in Birmingham, Mich.
