Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise 500(R) Ranks Jiffy Lube No. 5 Franchise In The World

     Jiffy Lube Rates as the Franchise Powerhouse in Oil Change Services

    HOUSTON, Dec. 20 -- The rankings have been released and Jiffy
Lube continues its ascension as a fixture on Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise
500(R) list.  This year Jiffy Lube rates No. 5 franchise in the world rising
from last year's ranking of No. 61, plus the company maintains its position as
No. 1 in oil change centers.
    "Our accomplishment as a franchisor is a direct reflection of the
successes of each of our franchisees in their individual markets," said Marc

    Entrepreneur's 21st Annual Franchise 500(R) is the most comprehensive
rating of franchises in the world.  The magazine evaluates each franchise
based on the number of years a company has been in business, growth rate,
current size, length of time it's been franchising, start-up costs, litigation
history, percentage of franchise termination, financial strength and
stability, and whether the company provides financing.
    Fast lubes were pioneered in 1979 by Jiffy Lube, now a wholly owned
subsidiary of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company .  Since its
acquisition by Pennzoil in 1990, Jiffy Lube has expanded significantly,
becoming the world's largest fast lube operator and franchiser.  With the
