2000 Kia Spectra Adds a Sporty Twist to the Kia Lineup 2000 KIA SPECTRA 2000 Kia Spectra.IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 20 -- Kia Motors America, whose sales have skyrocketed nearly 60 percent this year, will pencil a sporty addition into its lineup this spring with the all-new Kia Spectra. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19991220/LAM006 ) Set to be introduced to the public at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show and the North American International Auto Show in January, the Spectra will maintain Kia's reputation for high-value, well-built vehicles but in a strikingly contemporary four-door hatchback silhouette. With its high-tech 1.8-liter DOHC engine and sophisticated suspension set-up, the Spectra is not only a fine performance car in its own right, but it also can be easily and affordably modified to give just the level of performance and appearance its buyers desire. The Spectra will offer the versatility and convenience of a hatchback configuration while retaining the sleek, modern look of a sedan. With its standard split-folding rear seat and wide, easy-opening rear hatch, the Spectra can accommodate a variety of passenger and cargo combinations, especially handy for those who like to take their gear with them. Its exterior styling includes such luxury car touches as clear-lens headlights, body-color bumpers, remote-control body-color mirrors, and multi-speed windshield wipers, yet its base price is expected to be close to $10,000. Like all the hot-selling Kia models, which include the Sephia compact sedan, Sportage sport-utility vehicle and Sportage 2-Door Convertible, the Spectra will be covered by two very impressive warranties: a three- year/36,000-mile basic limited vehicle warranty and five-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain coverage. More details on the Kia Spectra will be announced when it is introduced to the public in January. Kia Motors America is the U.S. sales, marketing and service arm of Kia Motors Corp. in Seoul, South Korea.
