"Their commitment to our customers' total satisfaction is reflected in this recognition." The awards process uses Britain's Best Factory Awards as a model to develop a rating system. Once the best-practice ratings were established, a panel of judges conducted site visits to determine the finalist and winner. Dana was selected the top manufacturer out of a field of 153 entries. "Our people really pulled together to demonstrate Dana Australia's emphasis on quality and performance," said Aleta Kane, Spicer Driveshaft Australia manager. "I am very proud to be working with this team." The award was established to raise awareness of the business benefits of manufacturing excellence and to provide Australian companies with role models. The awards recognize local exemplars of manufacturing excellence and highlight the business benefits that can be achieved by implementing manufacturing best practices. So far this year, Dana operations have received 12 state quality awards in the United States. Dana established its Australian presence in 1970, growing to more than 30 facilities in Australia and New Zealand producing components and systems for vehicular, off-highway, and industrial original equipment manufacturers and their related aftermarkets. Spicer Driveshaft is the leading manufacturer and marketer of complete driveline systems for the vehicular and off-highway markets and is an operating unit under Dana's Automotive Systems Group.
