Strong Sales Volume Posted for Brilliance China Automotive Holdings LimitedHONG KONG, Dec. 16 -- Brilliance China Automotive's 51% -- owned subsidiary, Shenyang JinBei Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd. ("Shenyang Automotive") saw a rapid sales volume growth in the first three quarters of 1999. Shenyang Automotive sold a total of 31,613 minibuses in the first three quarters of 1999, a 52.6% increase over the 20,715 minibuses sold during the same period in 1998. Shenyang Automotive sold 25,204 of its Mid-priced Minibuses in the first three quarters of 1999, an increase of 68.8% over the 14,927 units sold during the same period in 1998. Unit sales of the Deluxe Minibus increased 35.6% from 3,901 in the first three quarters of 1998 to 5,289 units for the same period in 1999. Unit sales of the Standard Minibus declined 40.6 % from 1,887 units in the first three quarters of 1998 to 1,120 for the same period in 1999. Over the past five years, Shenyang Automotive has become China's most competitive minibus manufacturer. Market share has grown from 4.4% in 1995 to 16.2% at the end of September 1998, to 25.3% at the end of September 1999, according to China Automotive Industry Newsletter (No. 10, 1999). Mr. Yang Rong, Chairman and President of Brilliance China Automotive, said, "Our sales remain stronger than ever thanks to improved product quality as well as sales and after-sales services.
