    TROY, Mich., Dec. 16 -- Collins & Aikman Corporation
announced today that Edward L. Kowalski has been named Vice
President of Plastics Technology at its Plymouth, Michigan Technical Center.
The announcement was made by Clarence Peoples, Senior Vice President of
Technology and Development.

    Kowalski will be responsible for developing new interior trim products and
processes that expand Collins & Aikman's presence in the global automotive
interior trim market.  To this extent, Kowalski will play a key role in
leveraging Collins & Aikman's core competencies of design and styling
excellence and acoustics expertise throughout the Company's interior trim
product portfolio.
    Kowalski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Siena
Heights College and holds a Master of Science degree in administration from
Central Michigan University.  Kowalski, his wife and two children, reside in
Rochester Hills, Michigan.
