GE Capital Fleet Services Launches Driver-Based Vehicle Ordering ApplicationMINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 15-- Expanding its commitment to e-commerce initiatives for the fleet industry, GE Capital Fleet Services launches the first phase of its online, driver-based vehicle ordering application. This revolutionary application is an extension of the company's existing web ordering tool located at http://www.gefleet.com "The beauty of driver-based ordering is that fleet managers can dramatically improve their operational efficiency while maintaining control," said Robb Zavitz, e-commerce associate product manager at GE Capital Fleet Services. "All vehicle configuring completed by the driver is based on parameters the fleet manager selects. Drivers may be permitted to choose from designated options or can even be allowed to build entire vehicles." To generate a driver order, fleet managers simply establish their selectors on the Internet and allow their drivers to make selections online using a secure user ID and password. The order is then sent back to the fleet manager for approval and submitted directly to the manufacturer. No paperwork, faxing or mailing is necessary, and timely order entry processes are eliminated -- saving the fleet manager valuable time and money. Using their user ID and password, drivers can also access real-time order status of their vehicle -- eliminating the need for follow-up communication by the fleet manager. "The driver-based ordering system offers our customers unprecedented functionality," Zavitz said. "It's similar to the Dell model in that the entire ordering process is managed solely by the end user. The decision power is put completely in the driver' hands, within the specifications from the fleet manager."
