MSC.Software Teams up With Navistar to Capture and Deploy Best Simulation Practices; MSC.Acumen Applications Will Substantially Increase the Use of Simulation
LOS ANGELES--Dec. 14, 1999--MSC.Software Corp. (MSC), the world's leading supplier of simulation software, today announced a collaborative effort with Navistar International Corp. to improve speed and accuracy of The Navistar Technology & Engineering Center's (NTEC) structural analysis efforts.MSC.Software and Navistar experts worked together to exploit MSC.Acumen, enabling Navistar design engineers to significantly reduce the time needed to model and simulate part behaviors in the structural design process.
This project focused on improving analysis for a range of components whose evaluation was sometimes delayed due to limited expert resources. Using MSC.Acumen, the performance of a component can be simulated on the same day it is first rendered in CAD.
The Navistar design engineer is able to iterate changes in material, dimension, shape, or structural reinforcement supported by high-quality simulation that same day.
"This project provides an excellent example of how every manufacturing company in the world is able to make use of MSC.Software technology and services to directly and positively impact their profitability," said Frank Perna Jr., chairman and CEO of MSC.Software.
"The integration of proprietary Navistar technology with their understanding and expert knowledge of component design, will ensure that they are able to deliver on their primary business goal, to deliver the best possible truck products to their customers."

About MSC.Acumen
The MSC.Acumen Toolkit is a key enabler that is used to rapidly leverage MSC.Software technology components to develop highly efficient simulation environments. These environments may be "generic" and serve large market opportunities in a specific industry, or very specific to proprietary customer applications.
Typical projects involve MSC.Software's professional service group working as a part of a customer's technical team to develop a solution strategy involving integration and automation of existing commercial and proprietary technology to support a specific customer business objective.
About MSC.Software
MSC.Software is the world's leading supplier of simulation software to major manufacturers worldwide. MSC.Software develops, markets and supports software tools that simulate the performance of a product design before manufacture.
The ability to model and test software prototypes has cost-effectively enabled manufacturers to design and build everything from sophisticated aircraft and automobiles to a wide range of consumer products. Visit www.mscsoftware.com for additional information.
