International Software Group Helps ComSearch Drive Legacy-to-Web E-Commerce and Customer Service Initiatives
BURLINGTON, Mass.--Dec. 14, 1999--between legacy back-office systems and e-commerce
solution for leading replacement auto parts dealer
ISG International Software Group Ltd. today announced that ComSearch, Inc. has selected ISG Navigator's Enterprise Information Infrastructure (EII) solution to help Web-enable the company's legacy back-office systems for a new business-to-business e-commerce application.
ComSearch is a provider of cost containment systems to top national, regional and local auto insurance companies. They are the largest automobile recycled parts locator service in the country. Recyclers, repairers, and insurers are joined together to reduce the cost of automobile repairs. Traditionally, they use a telephone call center model to process requests for recycled automotive parts from their customers. Today, due to fierce competition in the property and casualty insurance industry, ComSearch is creating a business-to-business e-commerce application to improve customer service and to reduce the expenses and service time associated with order processing. This e-commerce application will enable auto insurance companies as well as auto repair shops to request part availability and pricing over the Web.
In order to provide their customers with all of the necessary information, ComSearch had to find a way to access, integrate and Web-enable all their legacy data. ComSearch turned to ISG Navigator, a class of EAI solution, because of its high-performance access to legacy data, and because it provides a flexible and scalable information infrastructure for accessing a broad range of data sources to accommodate future needs. In addition, ISG Navigator's ability to integrate with any standards-based front-end application made it possible for ComSearch to have a Java application transparently integrate with information on an OpenVMS platform.
"We know that giving customers the information they want in real-time via the Internet is key to the success of e-commerce and customer service initiatives," said Joseph Lyons, senior vice president of M.I.S. at ComSearch. "ISG Navigator helped us solve the problem by quickly and easily getting at the important customer-requested information in our legacy systems and integrating it with our new Web applications. ISG Navigator enabled us to respond quickly with a solution that will keep us competitive and take our customer service offering to the next level."
"Companies need to quickly respond to market demands for Internet accessible solutions without replacing their legacy systems," said Arie Gonen, chairman and CEO of ISG. "ISG Navigator's EII software helps companies quickly build cost-effective, scalable and flexible information infrastructures that allow them to leverage existing, proven business logic and customer information for e-Business initiatives such as e-commerce, e-service and Business Intelligence. Time-to-market is critical for the success of e-Business initiatives, and ISG Navigator provides the best and fastest solution to the problem of front-to-back-office connectivity."
