Discount Auto Names Seasoned Distribution Professional to Top Logistics and Distribution Post
LAKELAND, Fla.---Dec. 13, 1999--Discount Auto Parts Inc. announced today that Dennis A. Pardon has been named director of logistics and distribution.Pardon comes to Discount Auto Parts from Toys `R' Us, where he was director of transportation. Prior to that, he served as distribution center manager, senior operations manager and operations manager for the toy retailer. During his 24-year career, he also held key distribution management positions at Consolidated Stores and Rinks Department stores, both in Ohio.
In his new position, Pardon oversees all distribution activities and is responsible for supply chain logistics, working closely with Don Casey, vice president of purchasing and inventory systems.
"We were very impressed with Dennis' strong logistics and distribution background, which we believe will add to the depth of our management team," said Bill Perkins, president of Discount Auto Parts. "His skills and experience complement the supply chain management expertise that Don Casey brought when he joined us as vice president of purchasing and inventory systems last May from Pep Boys. Together, we believe they will accelerate our ability to obtain efficiencies from our supply chain processes, as well as, improve our overall inventory management.
"Both commercial and retail customers want needed parts to be available virtually instantly, and we'll continue to grow our SKUs over time to meet that need," he said. In addition, the Company announced it is expected to release the results from its second quarter of fiscal 2000 operations on Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at approximately 7:30 am EST.
