Ernst & Young Announces WWJ-Radio Sponsorship Renewal Of the Automotive News Pace(TM) Awards - 2000DETROIT, Dec. 10 -- Ernst & Young announces WWJ Newsradio 950 will be the exclusive broadcast sponsor of the Automotive News PACE(TM) Awards for the second consecutive year. The annual PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contributions to Excellence) Awards, co-founded by Automotive News and Ernst & Young, recognize auto suppliers for demonstrated leadership in innovation, technological advancements and business performance. "Sponsoring the Pace Awards strengthens WWJ's service to the large audience segment that follows the progress of the automotive industry and the companies leading this growth," said Rich Homburg, Vice President and General Manager of WWJ. "We're delighted to be part of this prestigious industry event." WWJ, as part of its sponsorship, will profile finalists and winners through select broadcast programming and its World Wide Web site. WWJ also will provide updates on the annual program, now in its sixth year. The European finalists will be recognized on February 28, 2000, at a dinner held in conjunction with the Geneva Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland. Recipients of the PACE(TM) 2000 Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 6 at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich. The ceremony coincides with the opening of the SAE International Congress and Exposition in Detroit. Eight winners, chosen from among 20 finalists, were honored at the 1999 PACE(TM) Awards ceremony. Each of the winners received a citation representing a consensus of the PACE(TM) judges' view of what made its nomination outstanding. This year, the PACE(TM) judges will also cite honorable mentions, giving more companies an opportunity to gain recognition and PACE(TM) honors. Twelve semi-finalists were recognized in 1999.
